Robyn Denholm is Chairman of the Tesla Board of Directors
OREANDA-NEWS Robyn Denholm has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tesla and will replace the founder of the company, Elon Musk.
"The Board of Directors of Tesla is pleased to announce that the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tesla appointed Robyn Denholm," - said in a statement posted Wednesday on the website of the company. It is noted that 55-year-old Denholm, who has been an independent Director on the Tesla Board of Directors since 2014, will take office immediately.
Denholm is currently the chief financial officer of Telstra, an Australian telecommunications company. She will leave the post at the end of the six-month notice period. According to Tesla, during the transition period, Denholm will provide all necessary support to Musk himself, who said he "looks forward to working more closely" with the new Chairman of the Board of Directors.
"Robyn has extensive experience in both the technology and automotive industries, and over the past four years as a member of the Tesla Board of Directors has made a significant contribution to helping us become a profitable company," the words of its founder are quoted on Tesla's website.
Previously, the Commission on securities and stock exchanges of the USA has filed a lawsuit against Musk, accusing him of forgery and misrepresentation of its shareholders a statement in August that he allegedly had sufficient funds for the purchase of Tesla stock. Musk wrote this message on his Twitter page, which then led to a jump in quotations of Tesla shares by more than 6%.
According to the pre-trial agreement between Tesla and the Commission reached at the end of September, Musk must pay $20 million and resign as Chairman of the Board of Directors for at least three years. At the same time, he will be able to remain CEO of Tesla. The company will also have to pay $20 million, it will be appointed two independent Directors.
Tesla was founded by Elon Musk in 2003. Its headquarters are in Palo Alto (California). At first, the company specialized only in the production of electric vehicles, but later also began to engage in the creation of solar panels and other energy storage systems.
