OREANDA-NEWS. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said that his country has not yet faced the threat of the spread of new strains of coronavirus.

The daily increase in the incidence on April 16 in Turkey showed a maximum since the beginning of the pandemic, amounting to 63,082 cases, after which it began to gradually decline. In June - the first half of July, it stabilized at the level of 5-7 thousand.

On Tuesday, the daily increase in detected cases of coronavirus in Turkey amounted to 8,780, the highest figure since the end of May.

"Turkey entered the Eid al-Adha with a decrease in the number of cases and deaths from the coronavirus. While many countries are fighting with new variants, Turkey has not yet faced this threat," Erdogan said in a televised address.

Since July 1, the curfew has been completely canceled in Turkey due to the improvement of the epidemiological situation in the country. The head of the Turkish Ministry of Health, Fahrettin Koca, said in mid-July that the number of cases of infection with the Delta strain in the country had almost tripled over the past week and reached 750.

The decision to resume flights with Turkey was made in the second half of June by the operational headquarters to prevent the import and spread of a new coronavirus infection in the Russian Federation. From June 22, regular and charter flights began to operate from Russia to Turkey.
