OREANDA-NEWS. In the near future, Russia will acquire its own helicopter-carrying amphibious ships, which are likely to become improved analogues of the French Mistral.  This is evidenced by information leaked to the media from the margins of the military-technical forum "Army-2019".

 In 2011, Russia signed a contract for 1.2 billion euros with France for the purchase of two Mistral-type ships.  But after the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions, the French refused to comply with the terms of the contract and returned the prepayment - we did not receive the ships, although they were made under our helicopters.

 There was information that these ships from France will buy Egypt.  Russia offered Egypt a ready-made solution - our Ka-52 helicopters.  But this question was also suspended, because if the French agreed to sell these Mistrals, it was only so that Russia would not appear anywhere at all.

 The Russian Federation decided to build ships on their own.  According to the publication, the Russian Federation can use the Chinese gas turbine UTG-25000, which is equipped with destroyers of the PRC.

 It is noted that the first two such ships should appear in the Russian Federation until 2027.
