OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian government plans to create a system of wholesale food markets. This was stated by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during a meeting with Deputy Prime Ministers, TASS reports.
According to him, the concept has already been approved, and a list of specific steps to implement this system has also been prepared.
The Prime Minister recalled that Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Cabinet of Ministers this year to increase the production and supply of high-quality, affordable food products.
The system of wholesale food markets will also help implement this decree, Mishustin noted. One of the goals is to help Russian agricultural producers sell their products to consumers in large cities.
“After all, in addition to wholesale sales, conditions will be created for retail trade, which means that people will be able to choose where it is more profitable and convenient for them to buy,” the prime minister said.
He added that it will be necessary to make changes to the legislation and national standards.
The Prime Minister instructed Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko to organize this work with the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, to take this issue under personal control.
Earlier it was reported that the government eased restrictions on the export of mineral fertilizers.
