OREANDA-NEWS. Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that it is possible to switch to a four-day working week in the Russian Federation when there are economic conditions. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to Medvedev, the pandemic created the conditions for the development of the relevant prerequisites.
“The four-day working week - for some reason, when I said this at a session of the ILO] International Labor Organization], there was such a state of shock, as if it were some kind of revelation. This is necessary, an attempt on the foundations, ”said the deputy chairman of the Security Council.
As Medvedev noted, there were also people who applauded the idea of working less.
“Someone said: “Is he completely crazy, or what? And so there is not enough money, and if you work for four days, you will receive less,” and so on,” he said.
Medvedev also drew attention to the fact that the reduction of the working week was talked about back in the 1960s.
“In many countries, such a system has been introduced as an experimental one. In some, it has even been implemented already and, in fact, legally. The question is economic readiness to work four days a week,” Medvedev said.
Before the pandemic, as Medvedev said, much seemed futuristic.
“And now, when many have switched to remote work, this four-day work week makes a lot of sense. Naturally, without a change in salary, ”the politician noted.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov proposed to reduce the working day by an hour.
