OREANDA-NEWS. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has expanded the list of Russian goods prohibited from being imported into the country. This time the ban touched fertilizers, agricultural products, transport, cement, plywood. “There are no objections? The decision has been made,” said Prime Minister Vladimir Groisman at the meeting.

In addition, Kiev introduces special duties on products from Russia. Deputy Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv said that they will take effect from August 1. The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine clarified that the measure will affect all products except coal, coke, gasoline, liquefied gas and pharmaceuticals. Presenting the draft document, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv said that “mineral fertilizers, agricultural products, vehicles” would fall under the embargo. He also said that "there are questions about cement and other groups."

The dialogue between Moscow and Kiev deteriorated after the coup in Ukraine, the return of the Crimea to Russia and the beginning of the confrontation in the Donbas. In January 2015, the Verkhovna Rada recognized Russia as an “aggressor country”, and in December, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution “On the prohibition of import of goods originating from the Russian Federation into the customs territory of Ukraine”.

Then Kiev approved a list of 43 products, and then expanded it by about 70 positions. On April 10, 2019, a resolution was adopted “On introducing changes to the list of goods prohibited from being imported into the customs territory of Ukraine originating from the Russian Federation”. The list has increased significantly. Russia responds by prohibiting the import of certain types of Ukrainian goods. Last time the list expanded on April 18th. At the same time, Moscow banned the export of oil and oil products to Ukraine.
