OREANDA-NEWS Kenya is exploring the possibility of increasing tea and coffee exports to Russia three times, the country's ambassador to Moscow, Peter Mutuku Matuki, told RIA Novosti.
"We would like to increase the volume of our tea and coffee exports to the market. There is a very good demand for these products in Russia. We hope that the import figures will be increased... We are currently studying whether the current export volume can be increased three times," he said in an interview with the agency.
The ambassador also noted that Nairobi would like to diversify exports to the Russian market – the country can start supplying vegetables, flowers and other products.
Commenting on the possibility of raising the price of Kenyan coffee on the Russian market, the diplomat noted that the cost would be determined primarily by exporters.
"I would put it this way: we are not trying to raise prices, we need to understand how we could produce more and supply more to the markets," he explained.
