Kaliningrad Region Started Issuing Electronic Visas for Foreigners

OREANDA-NEWS. Foreigners on the first day of introducing an electronic visa to visit the Kaliningrad region are actively applying to receive it. As the Russian media reported on Monday, the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Kaliningrad region, Andrei Yermak, the most submitted documents from the citizens of Lithuania. From July 1, residents of 53 states can receive an electronic visa to enter Russia through border crossing points on the territory of the Kaliningrad region. The most western Russian region has become the second after the Far East territory of Russia, in which it has earned such an order.
"During the nine hours of operation, more than 150 applications were submitted (now more) for obtaining electronic visas from different countries. Most of all - from Lithuania, but also from Germany and Norway too much. This is very good. We expected some time there will be a “buildup” - people will find out from others how someone traveled on this visa, how it was received, learn the experience of other tourists, but it turned out that people immediately began to actively apply”, the expert said.
He also noted that this week and next, in Lithuania, Poland and Germany, events will be held where citizens will be told in detail about single-entry visas in the form of an electronic document to visit the most western Russian region.
"In Poland, in Gdansk, where there are many Scandinavian and German tourists, we open an office that will operate from Friday to Sunday. There we will receive tourists and talk about the possibility of issuing an electronic visa to the Kaliningrad region. Those who will issue them directly office, we will reward. There are many options, for example, free accommodation in hotels, visits to salons in the Kaliningrad region, gastronomic tastings, various amber options", he said.
