OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan proposed to Russia to lift restrictions on the supply of Japanese seafood and fish. This is stated in a message on the official website of the department on Monday, October 16.

According to representatives of the Japanese Foreign Ministry, the Russian side was provided with sufficient evidence of the safety of seafood extracted in oceanic territories where water was discharged from the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant (NPP).

"It would be unfair to tighten restrictions on the import of Japanese seafood without scientific justification. Russia's recent decision is extremely regrettable, and we urge it to be canceled," the message reads.

Also, the Japanese Foreign Ministry announced its intentions to continue calls for a change in the decision by the Russian side on the basis of scientific data.
