OREANDA-NEWS In the first half of 2024, the supply of Italian wine to Russia decreased sharply. This is reported by The Drinks Business publication with reference to data from the Uiv-Vinitaly Observatory (UVO).

Wine exports from Italy to Russia fell by 25 percent in January-June, experts estimate. At the same time, in general, over the same period, the total volume of supplies of Italian wines abroad increased by 4.7 percent in value terms and by 6.3 percent in kind.

In just six months, the republic has supplied almost 4.7 million hectoliters of wine worth 2.1 billion euros to world markets. An increase in demand for Italian wines was noted in South Korea, Mexico and Australia. At the same time, shipments to the UK decreased by 15 percent, to Switzerland — by 12 percent, to Japan — by 10 percent.

According to Eurostat, in June 2024, the total volume of wine supplies from EU countries to Russia fell to a minimum over the past 14 years and reached 6.3 thousand tons. On a monthly basis, wine supplies from the EU to the Russian Federation decreased by 25 percent.
