OREANDA-NEWS  Russia has doubled its cheese production in 10 years after the food embargo was introduced in August 2014, and now it has to strengthen its position at the global level, said Oksana Lut, head of the Ministry of Agriculture, who visited the cheese festival in the Moscow region. This became known from the press service of the department.

According to Lut, last year the output of Russian cheese exceeded 800 thousand tons, and Russian cheese makers not only provide the domestic market with high-quality products, but also develop exports.

"The next task is to develop the brand of Russian cheese on the world market, where it can occupy its niche, successfully competing with many well—known brands," the minister said about the prospects for strengthening cheese supplies abroad.

Earlier, Russian tourists called Kostroma the city with the most delicious cheese. This answer to the relevant question was given by 30 percent of the study participants. According to the results of the survey, Adygea took the second position among the regions of the Russian Federation, gaining 20 percent of the votes.
