In Russia, They Want to Punish the Sale of Gadgets without Russian Software
OREANDA-NEWS The State Duma is going to submit a package of bills prohibiting the sale in Russia of devices on which Russian software is not installed.
The ban applies to gadgets with the function "Smart TV". These smartphones or televisions must have software installed from a special list. Devices without Russian software on sale will not fall.
Sellers of "wrong" gadgets will be fined. For individual entrepreneurs, the amount of the fine will be from 100 thousand rubles to half a million, and for legal entities - up to a million.
The authors of the initiative note that the bill is intended to raise the prestige of Russian Internet companies.
However, experts believe that such a move could force large foreign companies, such as Apple, to leave Russia.
