OREANDA-NEWS  Russia refused to impose a ban on the export of red caviar and fish. There will be no shortage, assured the head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov, his words are quoted by Interfax.

"We definitely don't expect any shortage of caviar," he said. At the same time, Shestakov did not comment on the issue of price changes for this delicacy, noting only that "in general, prices do not depend in any way on what is happening with fishermen."

As Valentina Milashevskaya, an analyst on commodity markets at the Finmir marketplace, said, caviar prices have jumped since the second half of October, despite the lack of economic justification for this. The expert advised Russians to buy delicacies in advance.

The results of a recent study of the resource "Check Index" showed that this year the spending of Russians on popular products for the New Year's table has increased dramatically — in the first half of December, spending increased by an average of 13 percent compared to the same period in 2021. In particular, Russians spent 426 rubles more on mayonnaise, crab sticks, red caviar, tangerines in the first weeks of 2022 than last year. On average, the expenses amounted to 3.5 thousand rubles.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, a stable price situation will remain in the Russian food market at the beginning of 2023. The ministry pointed out that for a number of categories, such as pork and poultry meat, eggs, vegetables, sunflower oil, flour, buckwheat and other types of products, selling prices are currently lower than last year.
