OREANDA-NEWS. From January 1, foreigners can be expelled from Russia for illegal activities, and employers for hiring such employees can be fined up to 800 thousand rubles for each person. This was reported to TASS on Tuesday, December 28, at the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"From January 1, for illegal employment, in addition to fines (up to 5 thousand rubles), measures related to expulsion from Russia and a ban on return entry may be taken against foreigners," the press center said.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs also added that on December 31, 2021, the temporary measures introduced by Russian President Vladimir Putin, which allowed foreigners to regulate their legal status in order to legally carry out labor activities without leaving the country, are ending.

On December 26, it was reported that for foreigners in Russia who are under the "controlled stay" regime, there will be restrictions on changing their place of residence. They will also be required to visit a special body that has established restrictions. According to Valentina Kazakova, head of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the law in the field of migration, which is being developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, provides for a new mechanism for controlling the stay of foreigners in the country - administrative supervision, within which a "controlled stay" regime will be introduced.

In addition, the head of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that instead of two independent procedures for removing foreigners from the Russian Federation (administrative expulsion and deportation), one procedure would be introduced - “expulsion”.

In the period from January to November 2021, 667,939 foreigners received Russian citizenship. This is almost 105 thousand people more compared to the same period in 2020 (563 342).
