OREANDA-NEWS The head of the Restaurant Brands International holding, David Shire, explained the situation in an open letter. According to him, the company has a joint venture in Russia with restaurateur Alexander Kolobov (owner of the Chocoladnica, VTB Capital and the Ukrainian financial group ICU). To close Burger King restaurants, you need the consent of partners, which Restaurant Brands International could not get.

This could be done by asking for help from the Russian authorities, but it will not be. Because of this, Burger King will not close, but the holding will cease to provide corporate support to the Russian market, stop marketing and supply support. And all profits from Russian restaurants will go to help Ukrainian refugees.

At the same time, the owners of Burger King decided to withdraw from their share in the Russian business when such an opportunity arises.
