OREANDA-NEWS  Georgia's imports of Russian beer in January-September increased by 26% compared to the same period last year - to a record $ 1.7 million, RIA Novosti found out after examining data from the Georgian state service.

This result was the highest since the publication of statistics in 2009. At the same time, in the first nine months of this year, Georgia's purchases of beer from Russia almost approached imports in the whole of 2023, when they reached $ 1.8 million.

At the same time, in September, Tbilisi reduced purchases of this drink from Moscow by 1.9 times compared to August - to 143 thousand dollars. And compared to September last year, imports decreased by 1.6 times.

In the first nine months of 2024, Russia became the second country in Georgian beer imports. Germany took the first place with supplies worth $ 4.6 million. The top five also included Turkey (1.5 million dollars), the Czech Republic (1.1 million) and Mexico (845.7 thousand).

Georgia's total imports of this drink reached $13.6 million in nine months.
