This was stated during a round table meeting of the Federation Council on the regulation of marketplaces by Deputy head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) Peter Ivanov, his words are quoted by RBC.

Thus, the prohibition on abuse of a dominant position regulated by the law of the Russian Federation on protection of competition fully applies to these companies, he said.

The Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service also pointed to a sharp increase in trade turnover on Russian marketplaces. Over the period from 2021 to the third quarter of 2023, it increased sevenfold, from 167 billion to 1.214 trillion rubles, Ivanov noted. At the same time, there are also seven times more unique sellers on such sites. Their number has increased to 700 thousand organizations, taking into account the self-employed and sole proprietors, he said.

Earlier it became known that the American technology corporation Apple became the payer of the largest antitrust fine in Russia in 2023. According to the FAS, the company paid 906 million rubles due to abuse of its dominant position in the market of mobile applications on the iOS operating system.
