OREANDA-NEWS According to the results of 2022, Russia took the first place in Europe and the second place in the world in turkey production, according to the consulting agency "Agrifdud Stretegis" based on the analysis of statistical data of the largest turkey-producing countries and sources in the industry.
Industrial enterprises, private farms and personal subsidiary farms in Russia in 2022 produced 415 thousand tons of turkey meat (400 thousand tons in 2021), for the first time overtaking the traditional industry leaders in Europe - Germany (406 thousand tons), Poland (409.2 thousand tons), France (244.9 thousand tons) and Spain (231.9 thousands of tons). At the global level, the USA is traditionally the leader (2.4 million tons), which produces almost half of the total world volume of turkey meat.
"Over the past decade, domestic turkey breeding has shown a fivefold increase, while in most traditional turkey-producing countries there is a reduction of an average of 10-20%. This became possible due to the noticeably increased demand in Russia for turkey meat as one of the most useful types of meat, its physical and economic accessibility for consumers and the actively developing export of turkey products," the press release says.
In 2022, Russia became the largest supplier of turkey meat to China, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, ahead of the United States, Poland, Chile and a number of EU countries, the volume of exports amounted to 26 thousand tons for $ 70 million.
In 2023, Agrifood Strategies predicts a further increase in turkey production in Russia - by 10%, up to 440-450 thousand tons, by 2030 - up to 600-650 thousand tons, which will significantly strengthen the position of domestic producers on the world market.
