OREANDA-NEWS. Egypt can guarantee the complete safety of Russian tourists, both at airports and in their areas of residence, said the Egyptian ambassador to Moscow, Ihab Nasr.

"We are now fixing complete security, stability. We can guarantee that Russian tourists, their safety will be ensured not only at airports, but also in hotels, and in general in their areas of residence," Nasr said during a press conference at the Rossiya today".

He also noted that the level of security at Egyptian airports meets international standards and in many respects exceeds the level of security at many airports in other countries.

The Egyptian Ambassador said that he sincerely hopes that the return of Russian tourists to Egyptian resorts will have a positive impact on the development of bilateral relations between Egypt and Russia.

It is recalled that air traffic between Russia and Egypt was suspended in 2015. The reason for this was the awful crash of a Russian airliner over the Sinai Peninsula. As a result of that disaster, 224 people died. One of the terrorist organizations was declared responsible for the crash of the plane. The resumption of flights to Cairo airports from Russia occurred in 2018, after strengthening security measures. In April of this year, the presidents of the Russian Federation and Egypt made a decision to restore air traffic between Russian cities and resorts on the Red Sea, Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh. This was preceded by strict checks by the Russian side, when the airports of Egyptian resorts were inspected by several delegations of Russian aviation security specialists.
