Due to the Departure of IKEA from Russia, 600 Employees of Ascona Were Left Without Work

They were engaged in the production and logistics of mattresses, which the company manufactured for the Swedish furniture giant IKEA. The partners have been cooperating for almost 20 years. Ascona has sent some employees on paid leave, some have reoriented to other projects, the rest are idle.
Swedish furniture giant IKEA has frozen cooperation with the Russian mattress manufacturer Ascona in connection with the military operation Russia in Ukraine. Because of this, 600 employees of the Russian company were out of work, Ascona told Forbes. IKEA announced the temporary suspension of operations in Russia and Belarus on March 3. The company explained the decision with «serious violations in the supply chain and terms of trade».
Ascona clarified that production staff and logistics staff were left without work. Some people have gone on paid vacations, some are reoriented to other projects, some are idle. The last company to cut wages by a third. Ascon does not disclose how many employees had to reduce their salaries and how long the company will be able to function in this mode without firing employees.
As one of the former employees of Ascona, who wished to remain anonymous, told Forbes, by the beginning of March, the production of mattresses had decreased by 30%. Because of this, some of the employees fell under the cuts. For example, eight people were fired from his photo and video projects department. He was informed about the reduction on March 11 and asked to finalize it by the end of the month.
