OREANDA-NEWS  In April-May 2024, the demand for gaming gadgets and electronics for entertainment in Russia increased by 31 percent compared to the same period in 2023. This is reported by the Vedomosti newspaper with reference to statistical data from analysts of the Check Index service of the OFD Platform company.

We are talking about a sharp increase in sales of computers, laptops and gaming peripherals. Similar dynamics were recorded by other market participants. For example, Yandex Market reported an increase in sales of gaming laptops by 60 percent year-on-year.

In turn, the sales of gaming consoles increased by 51 percent over this period of time, and the average check increased by 12 percent, to 25,050 rubles. PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch became the most popular consoles among Russians. Experts attributed the increase in sales of gaming equipment to a number of factors, including the traditional revival of the market during the May holidays, as well as cold weather at the beginning of the last month of spring.

Earlier, the Vedomosti newspaper, citing data from analysts at M.Video — Eldorado, reported a sharp increase in sales of another type of equipment in Russia. Thus, by the end of January-March, the sale of smart speakers increased by 33.3 percent compared to the same period in 2023 and exceeded 1 million gadgets.

At the same time, such dynamics has been observed in the country for several years. In 2023, the demand for this type of equipment increased 1.5 times.
