Travel and Tourism in Kenya to 2020
OREANDA-NEWS. RnR Market Research Offers Report by Research on Travel and Tourism in Kenya to 2020.
Summary
Kenya's inbound tourism market continued to contract in 2015 in the wake of security concerns caused by Al-Shabaab, a jihadi group based in neighboring Somalia. Due to this, western countries such as France have issued warnings to their nationals against traveling to Kenya. Although the UK has lifted its warning against going to some areas of Kenya such as Mombasa, Canadean expects international arrivals to decline until 2018 as other key source markets, such as the US, have not yet removed travel restrictions.
Key Findings
Keeping in view that China is one of the key source and destination markets for Kenya, China Southern Airlines introduced a tri-weekly direct flight from Guangzhou, a port city northwest of Hong Kong on the Pearl River, to Kenya's capital Nairobi in August 2015. The direct flight is expected to boost tourism flows between the two countries
As the peak season for tourism began in August, Kenya has tightened up the security at beach resorts in Mombasa. Furthermore, Mombasa International Cultural Festival and Mombasa international show are also scheduled in August. More security officers have been deployed and patrolling has been increased
