OREANDA-NEWS. In August sales of passengers cars and light commercial vehicles decreased by 18% up to 113,749 vehicles in Russia. According to the Association of European Businesses, for the first eight months of 2016 the Russian automotive market decreased by 14.9% up to 895,357 vehicles.

As Association of European Businesses noted, August failed to drop a negative trend in sales dynamics, which were last months, compared with the same period of 2015. It should be borne in mind that last year sales in August were supported by swings of exchange rate, which stimulated customers to speed up vehicle purchase. It does not happened this year, so last month statistics looks bad, but in the same time it is good for the nearest future, because demands was not deformed by the exchange rate. The good news is a fact that at the moment the market stopped to be down less its historical bottom in 2009. There is a good chance that it will be continued in September, as association believes. We remind that according to the actual forecast of Association of European Businesses, in 2016 the Russian automotive market will be 1.44 million vehicles, that is by 10.3% less than a year ago.
