Pandora announced a landmark partnership with Woolworths Supermarkets
OREANDA-NEWS. Pandora, the go-to music source for fans and artists, today announced a landmark partnership with Woolworths Supermarkets. Woolworths, the largest supermarket retailer in Australia, will stream specially curated, exclusive Pandora stations in more than 970 supermarkets every day of the week, bringing the ultimate in-store music experience to shoppers across Australia.
The custom curated music stations known as Woolworths Radio – Powered by Pandora, which can be enjoyed by music fans of all ages, have been curated specifically for Woolworths shoppers to enjoy throughout the day. The music will be refreshed and updated on a regular basis so shoppers will have an updated listening experience each time they visit their store.
The music has been specifically curated, and is frequently varied to reflect different shopping times, locations and experiences. Pandora will be mentioned during the audio and in point-of-sale displays which will encourage customers to download the app. Mood Media, Pandora’s business partner, installed the software and media players across the Woolworths supermarkets.
In addition to the in-store music, customers will be able to download the Pandora app to access the dedicated Woolworths Radio station 24/7. The station features Australian artists such as The Reubens, Keith Urban, Kylie Minogue and Vance Joy, as well as international artists.
“Woolworths is very focused on delivering a great in-store experience for our customers, and we are delighted to have partnered with Pandora and Mood Media to provide our customers with songs and music they enjoy and can relate to,” said Woolworths General Manager for Marketing Operations, Rod Evenden. “Music plays an important role in setting our mood, whether it’s in a Woolies store, travelling in the car, or cooking dinner at home. Now customers can tune into great music via Woolworths Radio on the free Pandora app.”
Pandora ANZ Director of Business Development Rick Gleave said: “This partnership extends Pandora’s ability to bring a unique selection of music experiences to every listener in Australia, whether through their own earbuds on the go, in their car, or when they are shopping for the family at Woolworths. As we continue to scale, this illustrates the joy Pandora can bring to every listener in the country no matter where they are. Woolworths provides a unique and new environment for music from Pandora.”
The specially curated playlists were made possible by Pandora’s world-leading Music Genome Project, a deeply detailed, hand-built musical taxonomy, which powers the personalisation of Pandora internet radio by using musicological DNA. To implement the technology behind the in-store music platform at Woolworths, Pandora partnered with Mood Media, the world’s largest integrated provider of in-store customer experience solutions.
