Snapchat ready to rock with new music festival deal
OREANDA-NEWS. June 09, 2016. Snapchat wants to give music fans around the world the true festival experience, but without all the crowds, sweat and sunburn.
The popular disappearing photo and video app has struck a deal with live music company AEG Live to cover some of its biggest events via Snapchat Live Stories. Among the first festivals to be covered are the Stagecoach Country Music Festival, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Panorama, Hangout Music Festival and FYF Fest.
"Partnering with AEG Live helps us capture thousands of unique perspectives from the event, allowing our community to dive in to the story and feel like they are actually there -- from backstage to the front row," said Ben Schwerin, director of partnerships at Snapchat, in a release Wednesday.
Live Stories are a compilation of photos and videos, curated by Snapchat, from people using the app at an event. In April, Snapchat struck a deal with NBC to create Live Stories around the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Snapchat will also create unique filters for each music festival that will only be available to people at or near the festival grounds.
