Blizzard, Facebook working to let you live stream game play
OREANDA-NEWS. June 07, 2016. Looking for new ways to show off your moves in World of Warcraft, Hearthstone or Overwatch? Blizzard Entertainment and Facebook on Monday said they're working to make that easier for fans of Blizzard's popular PC games.
Beginning later this month, players will be able to use their Facebook accounts to sign up for and log into Blizzard's roster of games, which also include Heroes of the Storm and StarCraft II. That login function will "pave the way" for additional features, such as live streaming Overwatch sessions directly to gamers' Facebook timelines, the two companies said in a joint statement. Friends can subscribe to each others' streams and be notified as new streams go live.
"Blizzard games are best when played with friends, so it's important to us to provide our players with features and services that make it easy and fun to share their experiences with each other," Gio Hunt, an executive vice president of Blizzard, said in the statement.
Blizzard has already hosted live streams on Facebook, including Heroes of the Dorm -- a special tournament for university students centered on its game, Heroes of the Storm.
