Pokemon Sun/Moon legendaries revealed, new gameplay trailer released
OREANDA-NEWS. June 06, 2016. Following the announcement of Pokemon Sun and Moon's starter Pokemon, The Pokemon Company today revealed the Legendary creatures that will appear in the game.
These powerful Pokemon are called Solgaleo and Lunala, and The Pokemon Company teased today that they will play a "crucial role" in the story. Solgaleo's signature move is called Sunsteel Strike, and it's an attack that "charges at an opponent with the force of a meteor." As for Lunala, its signature Moongeist Beam attack shoots out an "ominous beam of light."
You can see Solgaleo and Lunala in action in the video above. Additionally, full descriptions for both are available at the bottom of this post.
The Pokemon Company also shared some further general details about Pokemon Sun and Moon today. The game is set in the Alola region, which "centers around four tropical islands and one artificial island."
The story picks up after the hero moves to the region. You can play as a male or female, while you can also name your character and customize its appearance.
"Professor Kukui is the Alola region's Pokemon professor. The professor is passionate about his research into Pokemon moves and has sometimes taken direct hits from Pokemon if there was something to be learned from it," reads a line from the description. "Sporting a white lab coat, Professor Kukui has his own unique style."
Additionally, a "mysterious girl" named Lillie will assist the professor. "She's not fond of making Pokemon fight in battles, but she loves reading and has read a great number of books," reads the description. She will apparently play a big role in the game.
Another new character is Hau, who is described as a "Pokemon-loving young boy with a big appetite. He has a real weakness for malasadas, a famous treat in the Alola region, and is always in search of malasada shops. Hau is a big-hearted boy who really loves Pokemon."
The Pokemon Company also confirmed today that Pokemon Sun and Moon will include QR scanner functionality to register Pokemon and find new ones.
Additionally, Pokemon Sun and Moon will apparently be featured in Nintendo's Treehouse Live event at E3 later this month, according to the Pokemon website.
Pokemon Sun and Moon are due to launch on November 18 for 3DS. The last mainline games were Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, which came out in November 2014.
Also launching this year is Pokemon Go, a free-to-play mobile game that lets you catch Pokemon in the real world.
