Poroshenko noted support of IMF and World Bank in implementation of necessary reforms in Ukraine
“Your assistance and solidarity are very important for successful macroeconomic stabilization of Ukraine,” the President said.
Petro Poroshenko assured that Ukraine stayed committed to reforms actively implemented with IMF and World Bank.The President informed on the achieved progress on that track, particularly in the context of struggle against corruption and judicial reform. “We have rebooted the fight against corruption, restore trust in the banking system and the right to justice,” the Head of State noted.
The President urged the international partners to consolidate efforts in support of Ukraine aimed at creating comfortable conditions for foreign business and investors.
“Our key priority is the fight against corruption. Over the past 9 months, we have created a politically independent Anti-Corruption Bureau due to the efficient cooperation with our partners from the U.S. and the EU introducing the best global practices,” the President informed.
The Head of State drew special attention to the constitutional amendments on justice adopted by the Parliament recently. “We are rebooting the judicial power ensuring the right of citizens to a fair and efficient court,” he said.
At the same time, the President states that we understand that the results achieved are not enough. “It is important that people feel positive changes. That is why Ukraine drives to switching from the policy of consumption to the policy of development strategy. That is what our Action Plan is based upon,” the Head of State emphasized.
In her turn, Governor of the National Bank Valeria Gontareva noted that Ukraine had managed to overcome the biggest problems and achieve positive changes. However, it would have been impossible if it hadn’t been for the support of the IMF, World Bank and all countries of the Regional Group.
The President also met with First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund David Lipton and discussed Ukraine-IMF cooperation.
Ukraine is a member of the Regional Group of the IMF Member-States headed by the Netherlands. 15 countries are the members of this Group (the Netherlands, Ukraine, Belgium, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armenia, Georgia, Israel, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Croatia, Montenegro). Similar to the regional groups of the IMF Member-States, Ukraine is a member of the Regional Group of the World Bank Member-States headed by the Netherlands. This Group includes 13 countries.
