OREANDA-NEWS.   According to the agency “Auto-Dealer-SPb”, in Russia it was sold 53,857 cars, produced in St. Petersburg, in the first quarter of 2016. It is less by 8% than in 2015.

During the reporting period, the demand has grown only for the cars of Nissan plant (by 38%). Sales increased at three of the four produced models by the company (the reduction was observed at Nissan Murano).

Cars, produced at plants Hyundai and Toyota, in I quarter of 2016 have become less popular among residents of Russia. If the total drop in sales of Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio in the country was 12%, then the sales of the Toyota Camry was reduced by a quarter.

Despite the overall decline in demand for St. Petersburg cars in Russia, five models produced in the Northern capital, are represented in the top-25 of the most popular cars in the country by the results of the I quarter of 2016. Therewith, Hyundai Solaris and KIA Rio are in the top-three (Solaris is the leader of the Russian car market).

The car plants of St. Petersburg produce seven car models – they are Nissan Qashqai, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Murano, Nissan Pathfinder, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Solaris and KIA Rio. In the first quarter of 2016 the volume of production of cars in St. Petersburg was 55,900 cars, which is less by 22% than in the same period of the last year.
