Carrefour Taiwan organised its 1st Hackathon
OREANDA-NEWS. October 10, 2016. Carrefour Taiwan’s dedication to innovation has inspired the company to host its first ever Hackathon. This hackathon (hackeasy.life) was organised with the aim of providing participants with the opportunity to build projects around the idea of simplifying or creating a unique shopping experience. The focus was on making shopping easy and convenient using technology.
The main organisers of the event, in addition to Carrefour Taiwan, were Credit Agricole, L’Oreal Taiwan, Gandit.net, French Tech Taiwan and Pernod Ricard Taiwan. There was special support from the CCIFT, French Office Taiwan and Eiger, to name but a few. Three judges ( Joseph Chan- App Works, Benoit Bourdin-Deputy Manager Le Village and Kaede Tai-Founder PTT), all with an abundance of experience in the tech field, judged the presentations on the final day.
Anyone with programming experience or with a great idea which could be completed within 24 hours, had the chance to participate. A pre-event was held on 24 September 2016, where participants enjoyed a small meet and greet. The official event was held on 1 October and 2 October where a total of 7 teams (approximately 26 people) participated.
The event was a success! The winning team presented Shopcial, a social networking app for shopping, which enablescustomers to share and discuss discounts or events online. Shopcial proved useful not just online but offline in stores, therefore a definite potential for Carrefour!
