OREANDA-NEWS. The pipe-laying vessel Fortuna will begin work on the laying of the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 in the exclusive economic zone of Denmark on January 15. This follows from a statement published by the Danish Maritime Authority.

It is planned to start laying pipes along two parallel branches. The pipe-layer will be assisted by the ships Murman and Baltiysky Issledovatel of the Russian Marine Rescue Service, as well as other support vessels.

A temporary forbidden zone will be created in the work area 200 meters in each direction from the pipe laying. Seabed work, unauthorized swimming, diving, anchoring and fishing will be prohibited in these areas.

The Russian project Nord Stream 2 provides the laying of two branches of a gas pipeline with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. They pass through the territorial waters and exclusive economic zones of Finland, Sweden and Denmark.
