OREANDA-NEWS. American oil producers launched a lobbying campaign in support of the imposition of sanctions against Russia and Saudi Arabia. Thus, they are trying to force the authorities to influence two oil-producing countries so that they cut production, the Financial Times reported on Friday, citing sources.
According to her, the proposed restrictive measures include the introduction of duties on imported oil, the suspension of military assistance to Saudi Arabia, the introduction of tariffs on Russian energy resources and others. The cancellation of existing duties on the Russian Federation is also considered if Moscow agrees to cooperate with Washington.
On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed hope at a briefing at the White House that Russia and Saudi Arabia could soon agree to reduce oil production. The OPEC+ deal, which was held at the agreement between Russia and Saudi Arabia for three years and allowed to maintain hydrocarbon prices in the region of $ 60 per barrel by limiting production, ceased to work on March 31, 2020.
