Ukraine has proposed a gas export scheme to Azerbaijan

OREANDA-NEWS The Ukrainian authorities have come up with an alternative gas export scheme to the one that currently exists. This was reported by RBC, with reference to sources quoted by RBC Ukraine.
The option proposed by Kiev means replacing Russian gas with Azerbaijani gas. The prospective buyer buys this energy carrier at the entry point from Azerbaijan to the Russian Federation or from the Russian Federation to Ukraine. At the same time, the gas owner himself is negotiating the transportation of gas through the territory of the Russian Federation and pumps it into Ukrainian storage facilities. After that, he will be able to use it at will. For example, for sale abroad. Ukraine, within the framework of this construction, turns out to be a transit state, but a re-exporter.
A key element of this scheme is that each of the parties to the transaction (the seller of gas and its buyer) will agree with Russia on the security of supplies. It is assumed that in this way Kiev will secure its gas transportation system in the conditions of hostilities.
Earlier, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico recalled that Ukraine is obliged to transport gas through its territory for a member state of the European Union. This follows from the Association agreement with the EU, which Kiev signed.
