Earlier it was reported that Russia will pay Kazakhstan compensation for contaminated oil in the port of Ust-Luga in the amount of $ 15 per barrel. According to their estimates, the total amount of compensation for substandard raw materials may be about $ 76 million, the amount includes losses from loss of quality, downtime and storage.

It became known earlier that Russia will pay Kazakhstan a fixed compensation for oil pollution. Media sources indicated that, according to the preliminary terms of the deal, Transneft compensates for losses to the Kazakh operator of KazTransOil oil pipelines or to the shippers of Kazakhstan, after which they will be able to compensate the losses to buyers.

Problems with the quality of Russian oil arose in April. The Belarusian concern Belneftekhim was the first to report its contamination with organochlorine. Later, Reuters and Bloomberg sources indicated that due to problems with the quality of the raw materials, its shipment at the port of Ust-Luga was discontinued. On May 10, the Ministry of Energy of Russia reported that Russian oil began to be loaded into tankers in the port of Ust-Luga, which fully met the quality indicators.
