US Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette expressed the opinion that Russia will not be able to complete the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline independently. “They can’t,” Bloomberg agency quotes Brouillette, answering the question of whether Russia can complete the building bypassing sanctions imposed by Washington authorities. The politician believes that the delay, which Russian state corporation Gazprom has faced, will be very long, because Russia does not have the appropriate technology.

Gazprom official representative Sergey Kupriyanov commented on the statement of the US Energy Secretary. “Never say never,” he said.

Earlier, the head of the Austrian oil and gas company OMV, financing the construction of Nord Stream 2, Rainer Seele, said that Russia is able to find a suitable vessel to complete the project.
