OREANDA-NEWS The National Energy Commission of Ukraine will raise the tariff for gas transportation for citizens four times.
The agency explained this decision by stopping the transit of Russian gas, the financial losses from which will be compensated by domestic consumers.
"In 2024, 85 percent of income is from the transportation of gas originating from the Russian Federation. That is, 15 percent is what remains to us from internal customers. The increase in the tariff is not enough to fully compensate," said Dmitry Lippa, General Director of the Operator of Gas Transmission Systems (GTS) of Ukraine.
As a result, pumping 1 cubic meter of fuel will rise in price from 160 hryvnias (about 414 rubles) to 660 hryvnias (1707 rubles).
Earlier, Bloomberg analysts predicted that Ukraine's refusal to transit Russian gas would lead to "unpleasant consequences" for its energy infrastructure. The journalists concluded that the Ukrainian GTS could become a target for missile attacks, as happened with gas storage facilities and other sources of electricity.
