OREANDA-NEWS. The Akademik Chersky vessel left the waters of Denmark, where the Nord Stream 2 was built, will lay a 2.6-kilometer section of the second string of the gas pipeline in the exclusive economic zone of Germany, the press service of Nord Stream 2 AG (project operator) told RIA Novosti.

According to the data of the global vessel positioning system MarrineTraffic, "Akademik Chersky" left the waters of Denmark on the night of 18-19 July. The ship is now in German waters, in the exclusive economic zone of Germany. In this case, the ship "Fortuna" remains at the moment in Danish waters.

"The pipe-laying vessel Akademik Chersky will lay a 2.6-kilometer section of the second line of the pipeline in the exclusive economic zone of Germany. All work is carried out in accordance with the permits received," the company explained.

Nord Stream 2 AG noted that relevant notices to mariners have been published by specialized German services.

Earlier in July, the head of Nord Stream 2 AG, Matthias Warnig, said in an interview with the Handelsblatt newspaper that the company expects to finish laying the pipeline at the end of August. Now the project is 98% ready, while the construction of the first line has already been completed. About 2-3 months are required for tests and certification, work on the first line in this direction has already begun.
