OREANDA-NEWS. The program of support for «green» energy in the Russian Federation may be cut by a third. The Ministry of Energy has already agreed on this proposal with colleagues from the Ministry of Economic Development, who previously proposed halving the program.

The volume of support for green energy projects by the market under the new program may amount to 306 billion rubles, which is 30% less than the original plans, the «Kommersant» newspaper reported with reference to their own sources of information.

The load of 305.9 billion rubles is calculated in the prices of 2021 and assumes the introduction of 4.6 GW of new renewable energy capacity. The first renewable energy support program in Russia ends its operation in 2024, the last selection (for projects with commissioning in 2023-2024) took place this year.

The parameters of the new support program have not yet been approved and are being discussed. A draft document on the second program was submitted to the Government in December. It is assumed that the selection of renewable energy projects under the new program of support for «green» energy will be carried out long before commissioning — for 5-7 years, and the selections themselves will be technologically neutral. The main new requirement is mandatory export and localization of products. It was reported that the first selection of projects in the new program may take place in the first half of 2021.
