OREANDA-NEWS Gazprom and CNPC have agreed on the early withdrawal of gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia to the maximum level, the pipeline will be brought to its design capacity earlier than planned - from December 2024, the Russian company said in a Telegram channel.

Earlier on Friday, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller and Chairman of the Board of Directors of CNPC Dai Houliang held a working meeting in Beijing.

Gazprom and CNPC have agreed on the early withdrawal of daily gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia to the maximum contractual level," the statement said.

In addition, an additional agreement to the contract for the purchase and sale of gas along the eastern route was signed at the meeting. "In accordance with the request of the Chinese partners, the parties agreed on additional supplies in December 2024. Thus, the early withdrawal of daily gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline to the maximum contractual level will be ensured (previously it was planned to do this in early 2025)," the company adds.

Thus, the pipeline will reach full export capacity of 38 billion cubic meters of gas per year by the end of this year. In 2023, Gazprom supplied 22.7 billion cubic meters to the Power of Siberia.

The Power of Siberia is a main gas pipeline from Russia to China with a length of about 3 thousand kilometers. Gas supplies began at the end of 2019 from the Chayandinsky field in Yakutia, and three years later gas began to be transported from the Kovyktinskoye field in the Irkutsk region.
