OREANDA-NEWS. The construction project of the Nord Stream - 2 pipeline is proceeding in accordance with the established deadlines and budget. This was announced on Wednesday by the head of the Austrian oil and gas company OMV Rainer Seele. "The launch time depends on the last permit of Denmark. I don't see any delays on the part of the Danish authorities. In my opinion, we still fit into the budget and deadlines", the American news agency quoted him as saying.
The Nord Stream - 2 project involves the construction of two gas pipeline lines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the coast of Russia through the Baltic Sea to Germany. The cost of construction is estimated at € 9.5 billion, the launch of the pipeline is expected before the end of 2019.
The pipeline will bypass transit countries - Ukraine, Belarus, Poland and other Eastern European and Baltic countries - through the exclusive economic zones and territorial waters of Russia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany. Consent to the construction at the moment did not give only Denmark.
OMV expects the first gas deliveries through the pipeline until midnight on December 31, Sele reported, noting that the gas pipeline was already 70% complete. "The pipeline" Nord Stream - 2 "has already been laid by 70% in the Baltic Sea, work is proceeding as planned, there are no delays in the implementation of the project", said Seele.
Germany, on whose territory Nord Stream 2 comes out, repeatedly reminded of the importance of the project and stressed that it would not interfere with its construction, since there are no legal grounds for this. And to make the Nord Stream-2 "whipping boy" is wrong. And, as shown by a poll by the sociological service Forsa in early 2019, more than 71% of Germans support the construction of a gas pipeline.
