OREANDA-NEWS. Germany should strive to reduce dependence on energy imports from Russia. This was stated by German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock, reports Reuters.
“We must become completely independent of Russian energy imports,” the German minister said. In her opinion, another proof of the need for this was the Russian special operation in Ukraine. Burbock also called for investing in renewable energy sources, as gas can only be a "transitional solution".
In addition, Germany's still dependent on gas imports was called incorrect by the country's Minister of Economics, Robert Habek.
Earlier, Burbock said in Brussels that the EU should create places for the distribution of refugees from Ukraine. She also called for the creation of an "air bridge" between Ukraine and the rest of the world for a more convenient distribution of refugees.
She added that the refugee flows from Ukraine were “the biggest humanitarian crisis since the Second World War. Within a few weeks, their number could grow from 3 million to 8-10 million people.
Earlier, Annalena Burbock called on European states to show solidarity in accepting refugees from Ukraine.
