OREANDA-NEWS. German Finance Minister Christian Lindner spoke out against imposing bans on the purchase of Russian oil, coal and gas. According to him, the refusal to import Russian raw materials could lead to a sharp increase in prices for energy resources not only in Western Europe, but throughout the world, writes RT.
If we refuse to supply oil, gas and coal from Russia, this will lead to the fact that energy prices in Western Europe and around the world will rise sharply due to reduced supply, Linder said.
In addition, the minister stressed that it is very difficult to find a replacement for Russia's energy resources. Among the consequences of the refusal of Russian raw materials, he named possible interruptions in energy next winter.
The day before, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for new sanctions against Russia. In particular, he proposed to boycott the export of Russian oil and oil products. The Ukrainian leader clarified that these measures can be called an embargo.
Earlier, Canadian politicians proposed replacing Russian oil with Canadian crude. This proposal was made by the Minister of Energy of the Province of Alberta in Canada Sonia Savage and the Prime Minister of the region Jason Kenney.
