OREANDA-NEWS Bloomberg, citing the analytical firm Kpler, noted that in April the Asian macro-region overtook Europe in terms of oil purchases from Russia.
In May, the newspaper writes, the gap may increase, but its performance may be lower than the record data for last April. It is reported that we are talking about about 57 million barrels of Urals oil and 7.3 million barrels of ESPO Far Eastern oil.
“While this month's shipments are likely to be slightly lower, they will still only be beaten by last month's record,” analyst Jane Xie said.
Most of the fuel at favorable prices was bought by customers from China and India, despite the Ukrainian crisis and the increased delivery time (more than two months).
Earlier, European Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton said that energy exports bring the Russian authorities €800 million a day. According to him, Russian President Vladimir Putin uses this money, in particular, to finance the military operation in Ukraine.
“This situation cannot continue, it is necessary to expand the sanctions,” he said on the air of the French TV channel LCI.
EU countries have introduced five packages of sanctions against Russia because of the military actions in Ukraine. EU members have been unable to agree on the sixth package of sanctions for several weeks now. The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that disputes over the terms of the embargo on Russian oil are a stumbling block.
