OREANDA-NEWS. The launch of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline is possible in April-May next year. This was stated to RIA Novosti by the deputy of the German Bundestag Steffen Kotrets from the Alternative for Germany party, who was a member of the committee on economy and energy of the German Bundestag of the previous convocation.
“I don’t think that the project can be stopped now, that the Federal Grid Agency will be able to stop the certification of Nord Stream 2, but the European Commission will most likely also try to drag out the process from its side. I expect the commissioning of Nord Stream 2 no earlier than next year, possibly in April or May, "the politician said.
Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov emphasized that all the formalities for the launch of the gas pipeline are being fulfilled.
On November 16, Germany suspended the certification process for Nord Stream 2 AG as the operator of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. According to the German regulator, certification will continue if the form of its organization complies with the country's legislation. For this, the pipeline operator must submit a new application on behalf of the subsidiary.
Currently, the headquarters of the gas operator is located in the Swiss city of Zug. To manage the part of the pipeline that is located on German territory, a subsidiary company in Germany must be established.
