OREANDA-NEWS The Russian government has extended until the end of 2024 the ban on gasoline exports, which previously applied only to August, September and October. The corresponding resolution is published on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
The reason for this decision is the need to maintain a stable situation in the fuel market during the period of continued seasonal demand and scheduled repairs that are carried out at oil refineries.
As in the case of previous bans, the restrictions do not apply to supplies within the framework of international intergovernmental agreements, fuel exported for personal purposes, as well as humanitarian aid supplies.
The first ban on gasoline exports was introduced in October last year. The reason for this was the record high stock prices, as well as the local deficit in a number of regions. In 2024, the ban was lifted, but on March 1 it had to be returned. A temporary suspension of restrictions was in effect from May 20 to June 30.
Earlier, the ban was extended until the end of October. This happened against the background of the approach of the stock price of Ai-95 fuel to a record high last year. As of August 14, a ton of this grade is traded on the St. Petersburg International Commodity Exchange (SPbMTSB) at a price of 73.4 thousand rubles.
Earlier, the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) threatened Lukoil's subsidiary with a fine for inflating prices at gas stations.
