OREANDA-NEWS. The Court of Appeal of Svea County (Sweden) rejected on Wednesday a statement by Gazprom to the decision of the Stockholm arbitration on a dispute with Naftogaz Ukrainy on gas supplies to Ukraine. This is stated in the press release of the court.
"The Court of Appeal of Svea County today announced a decision on the appeal of the arbitration dispute between the Russian and Ukrainian companies. The decision of the Court of Appeal means that the lawsuit of the Russian company was rejected. It is expected that decisions on two more cases in court between the same parties will be taken in 2020", noted in the message.
“In the arbitration of the supply agreement, among other things, there were claims for payment and claims for invalidation or replacement of some contractual provisions. The Court of Appeal did not rule in favor of Gazprom on these issues. During the proceedings at the Court of Appeal, Gazprom insisted on the cancellation of two points on these issues in a separate decision", the court further explains.
“According to today's decision, Gazprom’s lawsuit was rejected, as a result of which the arbitral award is not canceled. When considering the case, the Court of Appeal did not reveal any errors of the arbitration court during the arbitral proceedings”, the court continues.
