OREANDA-NEWS Shell Neftegaz Development, the Russian structural division of the British-Dutch Shell Energy Corporation, filed for liquidation on Tuesday, October 8. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the data of the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (USRLE).
The structure is currently in liquidation. The deadline for the end of the procedure is September 10, 2025.
Last week it became known that Shell Neftegaz Development, along with a number of other Shell foreign divisions, became a defendant in the lawsuit of the Prosecutor General's Office, which at that time had not yet been accepted by the Moscow Arbitration Court.
The agency asked third parties to involve Gazprom Export, the Ministry of Energy, Sakhalin Energy LLC, Bermuda Sakhalin Energy Investment Co. Ltd and the government of the Sakhalin region. The subject and grounds of the claim were not specified, however, if we take into account the named companies, we are talking about a dispute over the Sakhalin-2 oil and gas project.
After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, Shell refused to continue cooperation, and in June 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on changing the operator of the project — Sakhalin Energy instead of Sakhalin Energy. Gazprom eventually got the company's share, but the issue of compensation has not yet been resolved. Before that, the Russian side wants to assess the damage caused by the actions of a foreign partner across the entire spectrum of cooperation.
