OREANDA-NEWS. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the price of oil could rise by 2-3 times in the event of a ban on imports from Russia. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“The price of gas is at an all-time high, the price of oil will be at an all-time high tonight or this morning. If a decision is made to ban the supply of Russian oil, it will be two to three times the historical maximum. All raw material prices have also skyrocketed,” he said.
On March 7, during trading on the stock exchange, the price of gas in Europe for the first time in history exceeded $3,600 per one thousand cubic meters, and the price of Brent oil reached a record $139 per barrel since 2008.
Earlier it was reported that the US House of Representatives will consider the possibility of banning the import of oil and energy resources from Russia to the States.
In turn, the EU urged to completely get rid of dependence on Russian gas, oil and coal.
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that the European Union must completely get rid of dependence on gas, oil and coal from Russia. It is reported by TASS.
“To do this, we must diversify supply, achieve better results in energy efficiency and invest heavily in renewable energy,” explained von der Leyen.
According to her, “one of the pioneers in this matter” is Spain. She also added that this country largely provides its energy consumption through renewable energy sources. The head of the European Commission stressed that the EU needs to speed up work on creating systems for the transmission of energy between Spain and the rest of the EU.
