OREANDA-NEWS. Maria Zakharova, a Spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, said at a briefing what approach Russia will use when responding to the sanctions of the United States against the construction of the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2.

“I will not say how the response of the Russian side will look exactly, but, as you have heard from Russian officials at various levels, we always respond to such unfriendly attacks,” Zakharova said. “Unfortunately, nobody canceled an approach called symmetrical and mirror-like as the answer,” she added.

On December 20, US President Donald Trump signed the country’s defense budget for next year, which provides for the imposition of sanctions against Nord Stream 2, as well as Turk Stream gas pipeline.
