OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian energy company Inter RAO wanted to import electricity from Azerbaijan and Georgia. Alexandra Panina, a member of the board of the company, announced plans to purchase energy during emergency regimes from the post-Soviet republics, as quoted by Interfax.

According to the representative of Inter RAO, neighboring countries asked about the possibility of supplying 300 megawatts each. However, they have not yet given an answer.

In July, temporary schedules for limiting energy consumption were introduced in the south of Russia due to a malfunction of the generating equipment at the Rostov NPP. Against the background of energy shortages, the Ministry of Energy has already identified the regions where the construction of a new generation will be required.

According to Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev, the renewal of the energy system will be carried out in parallel with the preparation for the heating season. The reason for this decision was a series of power outages in Primorye and in the south of the country.
